GELOTOLOGY: STUDY OF HUMOR
Nautilus Rising: I don't know why, but this past week I've had really weird experiences when I'm falling asleep.
The other night it felt like I had no body and was simply a brain lying helplessly on a pillow. I kept waking up, thrashing around, and making odd sounds I had no control of.
Today during my nap I alternated between deep, conscious exhaustion and surreal dreaming. The exhaustion was less like…
Sounds like a touch of sleep paralysis.

Second one happened to me twice last week. I’ve also had strangely vivid horrific dreams despite my lack of sleep, one of which involving a run in with a version of the KKK going around to houses and surveying the numbers of minorities in the area.

Sleep paralysis. I get it quite often. It happens when you go to sleep before your mind is ready to shut down and it can also be linked to narcolepsy. If you learn how to control the paralysis, it’s a useful tool for lucid dreaming.
